In a spirit of love, and with high idealism, let our preparations for the Walk carry us forward to the glory of God.  Often times we think we must be chosen to serve on the Team to be used but there are many ways to be active in serving in the Emmaus, Chrysalis, YAC and REC events.

Think back to your Walk; do you remember how well the Community served during that time and how you were blessed?  Were there plenty of agape snacks and were there any acts of agape (table agape) that helped move you closer to God by showing you His love?  The entire Community was involved in the Walk --  not just Team members.  We forget sometimes that the objective is not for the Pilgrims to have a joyful encounter with the Team, but for the Team and the entire Community to be servant-instruments, submissive to the Holy Spirit so that He can direct the Pilgrims into a joyful encounter with Jesus Christ.  We do well to remember this!

We can be active in this process by being available to God’s call.  We all can pray for the Walk; pray for a speaker; serve meals; be present at Send-off, Special Service, & Closing; by bringing snack agape & table agape (needs to be 70 pieces); help set-up and prepare the campground before the walk; and clean-up after special services and after the walk event. Don’t overlook the many ways to be active in the Walk and to serve the community after the walk weekend.  See one of the BOARD MEMBERS and sign up to help in the various areas of service.

Every person in the Community who contributes toward the Walk is equally as important and valuable as you are, whether you are on the Team or not.  Keeping in mind our purpose in God’s kingdom is building up disciples, your service on the Walk just might make the difference in moving someone closer to Jesus Christ.

I Peter 4:10-11 (NIV) Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in it’s various forms.  If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God.  If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.  To Him be the glory for ever and ever.  Amen
